THE INNER LEADERSHIP MODEL
The Inner Leadership model has as its core the twin concepts of the ‘I’ and the ‘Self’ surrounded by our personality in the outer layer.
It serves as a schematic model for our internal psychological construct and as an orientation aid for everyday situations and experiences.
THE INNER TEAM OF SUBPERSONALITIES
We may believe that we are ‘indivisible’ when only our external persona is considered.
But if we take a closer look, we discover a lot of different traits, characteristics, roles, and skills that together make up who we are. We call these individual aspects of ourselves our subpersonalities. It is the various forms of expression and behavioural styles we have learned or adopted during our lives. Through our subpersonalities we express ourselves in everyday life by our behaviour and our reaction to situations and people.
Each subpersonality expresses itself uniquely, having its own behaviour, pitch, facial expression, and posture. It even has its own thought patterns, convictions, and emotional characteristics. That’s why we call them a subpersonality because each role is like a little personality. Depending on the situation and context, we slip into a subpersonality and behave accordingly. In everyday life we constantly move between subpersonalities, and we are usually not aware of which subpersonality we are currently identified with.
THE 'I' AND THE 'SELF'
Strengthening the 'I' is the fundamental underlying
concept of Inner Leadership as the 'I' acts as the
internal governance of our personality.
The ‘Self’ is the essence of our being and the soul-energy that wants to manifest itself through us. It contains our life plan, our personal purpose, and our destiny, which is meant to be executed by the ‘I’. Accordingly, we can call the 'I' the internal governance of our personality. It acts as the translator of our essence to give shape to the formless energy of our being through our personality. Therefore the 'I' is an important core element of the Inner Leadership model.
A good analogy here is an orchestra on a stage where there are many different musicians who produce their own individual sounds, representing our different subpersonalities. The 'I' is represented by the conductor, who leads the orchestra, and the 'Self' is the composer, who wrote our life plan, being the music score.
THE BASIC TYPES OF SUBPERSONALITIES
Our personality profile lies within the basic elements
of four colours.
Each of us has subpersonalities of all four basic types, with varying levels of intensity and maturity. The way we usually act comes from our well-developed or dominant subpersonalities. These determine our daily motivations, our natural behavioural styles, how we perceive our environment and how we maintain our relationships.
Our methodologies use exercises to enable deeper reflection and to create space for personal insights, like imaginations, working with symbols, meditation, visualisation, body awareness and constellation work.
PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT
Each of us has an inner team of resources and potential that has to be developed, unfolded and directed so that we can follow our own purpose, live our life and become who we really are.
The expanded spectrum of our subpersonalities, together with their improved maturity levels and the increased freedom regarding their usage, enables the alignment of our inner team to our life plan.
This self-realisation process is a deep fulfilling experience and supplies us with a lot of energy, increases our well-being and has positive impact on our performance and relationships.
